Code of Conduct WBF2026 (PDF)

The World Biodiversity Forum WBF brings together leading researchers, early career researchers, practitioners, representatives from different sectors, decision-makers and societal actors discuss the future of biodiversity and plan action. It provides a platform for exchange, covering a wide range of perspectives, and capturing a diversity of visions. The World Biodiversity Forum values the diversity of views, opinions and expertise reflected among the participants of the meeting. WBF strives to create an environment where all are welcome, where every participant feels safe, can comfortably engage and be included in all activities, and where no-one is discriminated against or harassed.

We kindly ask all participants to:

  1. Treat fellow attendees with respect, courtesy, and consideration.
  2. Appreciate the diversity of participants, including their perspectives and opinions.
  3. Engage in a professional, collaborative, and fair manner.
  4. Communicate openly and respectfully, focusing on ideas rather than individuals.
  5. Refrain from personal attacks.
  6. Keep the diversity of your audience in mind when preparing presentations and when chairing sessions or workshops.

Photography or recording of scientific material presented at the World Biodiversity Forum is not permitted without the presenter’s prior consent. Presenters are encouraged to let the audience know if they welcome screenshots or the sharing of their slides or posters on social media.

The World Biodiversity Forum supports open and thoughtful discussion on social media and blogging platforms. We ask all participants to:

  1. Always show respect for the work and research contributions of presenting authors.
  2. Honour any request from an author not to share or disseminate presentation content.
  3. Refrain from posting images or videos online unless you have explicit permission from the author.
  4. Avoid posting identifiable images of individuals without their express permission.

Official event photography and videography will take place throughout the World Biodiversity Forum. These images may include participants and may be used for documentation and communication purposes, including on the Forum’s website, publications, and social media channels. Such photography is carried out under the Forum’s legitimate interest in reporting on and promoting the event.

Close-up or portrait-style images of identifiable individuals will only be used with their explicit consent. Participants who prefer not to appear in photographs may request a no-photos»-badge at the registration desk.

Harassment, intimidation, discrimination, or any form of verbal or physical abuse will not be tolerated. Conference organisers and staff will take any action they deem necessary and appropriate to address such behaviour. If you experience or witness harassment, abuse, or discriminatory conduct, please do not hesitate to speak with the conference manager at the registration desk. You may also reach out after the meeting by emailing us.
